Coquelin & Rosicky available for Burnley clash

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that Francis Coquelin and Tomas Rosicky are back available for Saturday’s FA Cup tie at home against Burnley.

Coquelin hasn’t played since suffering a knee injury in November, while Rosicky will be hopeful of making his first appearance of the season after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

''Francis is available to play now because he has passed two weeks of full training. Tomas is also available for selection,” Wenger told the club’s official website.

The French tactician also provided an update on Danny Welbeck, with the striker not yet ready to return to action despite recovering from injury.

Wenger continued: “Danny Welbeck is not completely ready but he is not far. He needs a game or two because he’s been out since last April. The Stoke [under-21] game is too soon because he only had one session with the team, and that is too short.”

Welbeck could instead feature for Arsenal’s U21 side against Brighton & Hove Albion a week on Friday as he looks to step up his recovery.

Arsenal’s injury problems are easing, with Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla now the only senior players currently sidelined. Wenger revealed that the midfield duo are still a few weeks away from returning.

He added: “Mertesacker is out because of the red card, and everybody else is available, apart from Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla. After that it is just a question of selection and decision-making, that is the key.

''Jack and Santi are progressing well but they are at least a few weeks away. But these two apart, it is just about competitiveness and match fitness.”

Wenger is likely to rotate his squad for the game against Burnley, with Mohamed Elneny in contention to make his debut, while Calum Chambers, Kieran Gibbs and David Ospina could also feature.

Arsenal, who’ve created 281 chances in the Premier League this season, will be eager to return to winning ways after they were beaten by Chelsea last weekend.

With an important Premier League game to follow against Southampton just three days later, it wouldn’t be surprising if Wenger elected to rest key players, such as Mesut Ozil, against the Clarets.
