Borussia MG have been boosted by the return of Andre Hahn and Patrick Herrmann to light training as they continue their recovery from long-term injuries.
Hahn has been out since the 3-1 win over Schalke back in October when he suffered a tibial plateau fracture and a lateral meniscus tear in his left knee.
Hermann, meanwhile, has been undergoing physical therapy for the last three months after tearing cruciate ligaments in his knee.
Both players returned to training this week and have been put on individual routines with fitness coach Andreas Bluhm until they are ready to make a full return.
"I'm doing a lot with the ball to get back into the swing of things again after a long break," Herrmann told the club's website.
"The rehabilitation is going well and and knee feels good. I'm taking it week by week and when I have no pain at all, I'll join in with the team."
Jonas Hofman and Mahmoud Dahoud were notable absentees from midweek training, but the club is hopeful both players will be ready for their clash against Mainz this weekend, with Hofman sitting practice out with illness while Dahoud cut his hand.
