Peterborough United 0 - 1 Burton Albion FC: Burton back on top of League One after Peterborough win
Posted Wednesday, January 27, 2016 by PA
Burton Albion moved back to the top of League One with a comfortable 1-0 win at Peterborough.
Tom Naylor struck early for the visitors who moved above Gillingham after a fourth straight away win without conceding.
Burton only needed three minutes to take the lead as Stuart Beavon won the ball off Harry Toffolo just inside the Peterborough half. He then played in Mark Duffy down the right whose squared ball across the goal was tapped in by Naylor at the back post.
Toffolo was carried off at the end of the half after a clash of heads with Burton's Calum Butcher before Ben Alnwick twice kept the Brewers at bay. First, he saved at his near post from Butcher then made an excellent diving save from the corner to deny John Mousinho.
Peterborough had plenty of possession in the second-half with Michael Smith shooting wide from 20 yards.
But that was as close as they came as a third match without a win prevented a return to the play-off places.
