JOSE MOURINHO has sent a six-page letter to Manchester United expressing his desire to manage the club.
DOCUMENT SENT: Jose Mourinho is determined to become the next Man United manager
Louis van Gaal is under severe pressure at Old Trafford after his side lost 1-0 to Southampton yesterday.
The Independent claim Mourinho has seen his opportunity and sent the document to United officials.
The Portuguese boss has included his thoughts on the current players at the club and those he would target if given the opportunity to stand on the Old Trafford touchline.
UNDER PRESSURE: Louis van Gaal is struggling as United boss
Mourinho's representative Jorge Mendes has also contacted United regarding taking over at the club.
There are still several Red Devils officials concerned about appointing the former Chelsea man because of his style of football and controversial character.
The Special One has tried to win those United staff over by agreeing to adapt his style to play a more attacking brand of football than with previous clubs.
SHELLSHOCKED: United players are stunned after conceding late against Southampton
Despite sending the 'love letter' to the Manchester club the 52-year-old is said to be relaxed about his future.
United will be tempted to hire Mourinho as his record speaks for itself.
He has won the Champions League with Porto and Inter Milan as well as La Liga with Real Madrid and the Premier League three times with Chelsea.
