Manchester clubs are ‘locked in battle’ for Barcelona ace Neymar

Italian football journalist Tancredi Palmeri has given an update into the transfer status of Barcelona megastar Neymar by claiming that both Manchester United and Manchester City are locked in battle for his services.

The charismatic Palmeri is often known for his hyperbole when it comes to rumours and transfer gossip, gave his own big reveal on Twitter regarding the recent chase for Neymar’s signature by claiming a big news exclusive.

It’s no secret that Neymar has recently had trouble reaching an agreement over a new contract with the La Liga giants, and as such Manchester United have made several offers to bring him to England.

Tancredi claims that the 23-year-old is giving serious consideration to United’s offer, only cross-town neighbours City are hoping to get the jump on the Red Devils and are telling Neymar to hang on until they can make their move.

He believes that United are ready to capitalise on Neymar’s fear of never being the ‘king’ of Barcelona by shattering the Premier League’s transfer and wage records to bring him on board.

But City are waiting until they can confirm Pep Guardiola as manager, and have told Neymar that they will pay whatever it costs to get him to snub United and join them instead.

Though there is no doubt some grain of truth in the rumour, it is more likely that Neymar will use the interest from the Premier League to leverage a better deal for himself at the Nou Camp.
