Paris Saint Germain vs Angers SCO - Laurent Blanc demands domestic focus from PSG stars

Paris St Germain coach Laurent Blanc wants his players to maintain focus in their dominant domestic campaign as they build towards a Champions League showdown with Chelsea.
On Tuesday night the runaway Ligue 1 leaders booked a place in the last 16 of the Coupe de France after a late penalty from Zlatan Ibrahimovic secured a 2-1 win over Toulouse at the Parc des Princes.
Following Saturday's showdown with Angers, the top flight's surprise package who are holding their own in third place after promotion, PSG face Toulouse again in the semi-finals of the Coupe de la Ligue as they bid to remain alive in both cup competitions and on course for a possible quadruple.
Blanc's men face at least half-a-dozen matches before the first leg of their knock-out round tie with Chelsea on February 16, but have requested some domestic fixture rescheduling to help ease the workload ahead of such an important European tie for the French club.
Despite already having the Ligue 1 championship all but wrapped up with a commanding 21-point lead over Monaco, the PSG coach is nevertheless determined to sustain momentum following 10 consecutive victories.
"We must be aware that the league games and cup matches will help us compete for the Champions League," Blanc said at a press conference.
"However, our season is not (just) the Champions League. We must also build maximum points in the matches ahead to run into April or May."
Asked if his team could already start thinking of themselves as league champions again, Blanc replied: "That is not the case yet. We must want to further accelerate if possible, and above all, this may allow us to be competitive in our other objectives."
Angers held PSG to a goalless draw when the sides met at Stade Jean Bouin on December 1, which was the last time the leaders dropped any points.
Blanc has been impressed by the sustained efforts of Stephane Moulin's well-drilled squad, who were the first club all season to keep a clean sheet against the champions.
"Congratulations to them, this is a very well-organised team. They are soldiers who deserve the points they have earned," said Blanc, who confirmed goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu, defender Thiago Silva, midfielders Javier Pastore and Marco Verratti will all miss out.
Angers went out of the Coupe de France on Tuesday night when they were beaten 2-1 at home by Bordeaux.
It was a second successive defeat following the 2-1 loss at Nice, where the home side were awarded two late penalties - the second for a somewhat controversial handball decision.
Afterwards, Moulin had said: "It is good for Nice, but I hope that if the same thing happens next week in Paris that the whistle will go again. I am not certain of that."
