Reading can add Yann Kermorgant and George Evans to their squad for the visit of Sheffield Wednesday.
Striker Kermorgant moved to the Madejski Stadium from Bournemouth earlier this week and midfielder Evans arrived from Manchester City.
Winger Garath McCleary is 50/50 to play after going off against Huddersfield in midweek with a hamstring problem, but left-back Jordan Obita could return after a month out with a knee injury.
Centre-half Paul McShane is still sidelined with a calf problem and midfielder Aaron Tshibola is out with a hamstring injury.
Wednesday will include new loan signing Joe Bennett in their squad following the defender's arrival from Aston Villa until the end of the season, while Gary Hooper is also available after joining on a permanent deal from Norwich on Friday.
Third-choice goalkeeper Lewis Price is on stand-by after starting in last week's derby win against Leeds as both Keiren Westwood (muscle strain) and Joe Wildsmith (back) remain doubtful.
Head coach Carlos Carvalhal will hand late fitness tests to two unnamed players who are carrying knocks but has no other new injury concerns.
The Owls, currently occupying the final play-off spot, have won six of their last seven matches in all competitions.
