Barnsley vs Rochdale - Same again for Barnsley boss Lee Johnson

Posted Friday, January 22, 2016 by PA

Barnsley head coach Lee Johnson is expected to choose from an unchanged squad for the visit of former boss Keith Hill's Rochdale.

Johnson has no new injury or suspension concerns following last week's 3-0 win at Shrewsbury, while defender Kevin Long (Burnley) has extended his loan spell.

Striker Marley Watkins overcame an ankle injury to return to the starting line-up last weekend and is hoping to resume up front alongside 12-goal Sam Winnall, but Manchester United loanee Ashley Fletcher is pushing for a recall.

Midfielder Josh Scowen and defender Lewin Nyatanga (both knee) remain sidelined.

Midfielder David Syers could make his Rochdale debut at Oakwell.

Syers joined Dale earlier this week on a deal until the end of the season following his release by Scunthorpe.

Hill's team missed out on league action last weekend because of a frozen pitch at Spotland.

Jamie Allen (dead leg), Joe Rafferty (stomach) and Callum Camps (illness) are all back in contention but Ashley Eastham (calf) is likely to remain sidelined.
