Manchester United prepare big-money Rodriguez bid

Manchester United are preparing a big-money bid for Real Madrid forward James Rodriguez, according to Goal.

James, who joined Madrid in 2014, has only made seven La Liga starts this season under Rafael Benitez and his successor Zinedine Zidane.

The Colombian’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has reportedly alerted Man United to James’ availability having built up a relationship with officials at Old Trafford through a series of notable transfers.

However, Madrid’s recent transfer ban may mean that the Spanish club will be reluctant to let James go.

United were said to be keen on James, who played a starring role for Colombia at the 2014 World Cup, when he played for Porto between 2010 and 2013 but a move never materialised.

James is a world-class player and one that would go a long way to providing the attacking impetus that United have been desperately lacking this term. It will be difficult to convince Madrid to sell but, if he is open to a switch, United should do all they can to sign him.
