Coventry vs Burton Albion FC - Coventry sweat on fitness of Chris Stokes for Burton clash

Posted Friday, January 15, 2016 by PA

Chris Stokes' ever-present Coventry record is in doubt as he struggles with an ankle injury.

The defender could miss his first league games since joining last February after suffering the problem against Walsall.

New signing Peter Ramage is on standby to make his debut for the Sky Blues after being an unused substitute in the 1-1 draw against the Saddlers on Tuesday.

Skipper Reda Johnson is out with a season-ending hamstring injury he suffered in October.

Burton will be without the suspended Robbie Weir when they resume action after a two-week break.

Weir was sent off in Albion's last game against Blackpool on January 2 and the midfielder must serve a two-match ban for his second dismissal of the campaign.

There have been a few changes for the League One leaders during their enforced sabbatical, due to last weekend's opponents still being involved in the FA Cup, with Remi Matthews returning to Norwich following the end of his loan spell and Tom Flanagan undergoing an appendix operation that will keep him out for around another four weeks.

However, Mark Duffy remains available after extending his loan stay from Birmingham and experienced goalkeeper Stephen Bywater, signed on a short-term deal this week after Matthews' departure, could be in the squad if international clearance comes through in time.
