Manchester United are weighing up a potential move for Southampton's youngster Jake Hesketh in a bid to reinvigorate their stock of young talent.
The 19-year-old playmaker is one of the Saints' most highly-rated young talents and he actually made his Premier League debut against United last season, coming on as a substitute in the Red Devils' 2-1 win in December 2014.
According to the Daily Mail, the club have instructed their scouts to find the best teenagers in the nation so they can be signed to United's currently struggling academy.
And Hesketh has been one of the names reported back to the officials at Old Trafford, as per the newspaper.
The report goes on to say that United ordered an overhaul of their academy system in December so to keep pace with rivals Manchester City, who have themselves been attracting a number of the world's hottest prospects.
Hesketh hasn't played in the Premier League this season but is now a regular member of the senior squad, and trains frequently with the first-team.
The report goes on to say that Southampton have no intention of parting with the midfielder, who finished as the Under-18s top scorer in 2013, and see the player as a regular in the first team in the coming years.
