Milton Keynes Dons vs Burnley - MK Dons dealt Carl Baker blow

Posted Tuesday, January 12, 2016 by PA

MK Dons have suffered a major blow ahead of the game against Burnley with the news that top-scorer Carl Baker will be sidelined for around seven weeks.

The winger, who has netted five times this season, ruptured a ligament in his ankle following a tackle in the draw at Leeds earlier this month.

Goalkeeper David Martin and midfielder Darren Potter both sat out the 2-2 FA Cup draw at Northampton on Saturday with knocks and may return.

Striker Nicky Maynard came off the bench to score a late leveller against the Cobblers and is set for a promotion to Karl Robinson's starting line-up.

Burnley are hopeful the Sky Bet Championship's top-scorer Andre Gray will be part of their travelling squad.

The 15-goal forward broke his finger in training on Friday and missed the FA Cup win over Middlesbrough on Saturday as a result, yet Clarets manager Sean Dyche is optimistic the issue will not rule him out of this clash.

Both Dean Marney (calf) and Michael Duff (thigh) were also absent in Teesside as they spent Saturday morning training back at Burnley's base with a view to possibly returning on Tuesday.

However, Ashley Barnes and Lukas Jutkiewicz (both knee) remain on the sidelines as Dyche's men look to close the gap on the top two.
