Starsport this week revealed how the Gunners are weighing up a shock bid for striker Troy Deeney.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is a big fan of the powerhouse striker, who is on a fine run of goal-scoring form with six strikes in 11 appearances.

And he is also after Deeney's partner in crime Odion Ighalo, who has helped the Hornets into ninth position.

According to the Mail, the Watford sensation is a serious summer target for the Gunners.

It's claimed scouts have been instructed to identify frontman targets ahead of the summer transfer window and Ighalo fits the bill.

The Nigerian has scored 14 goals already this season and Arsenal are eyeing a hitman who can hit the ground running.

Despite the interest, Hornets boss Quique Sanchez Flores has warned the big boys to stay clear of their prized assets.

On players leaving in January, he said: "It's completely impossible. Our target as a team is very clear.

"The confidence of these players is amazing. They are completely confident in themselves.

"When we talk in the office with the sporting director and the owners we don't talk about selling players.

"We talk about to continue growing with the same players, with the same group, try to add some for the future. The reality of the situation is we don't want to lose anyone."
