Mansfield Town vs Stevenage Borough - Stags sweat on Green fitness

Posted Friday, January 08, 2016 by PA

Mansfield striker Matt Green is an injury concern for the visit of Stevenage.

Green was forced off with a knock against Accrington last weekend after scoring his eighth goal of the season and he will undergo a fitness test. With Adi Yussuf and Chris Beardsley already on the treatment table, the Stags will be short up front if Green misses out.

Captain Nicky Hunt has a chance of returning from the hamstring injury that has kept him out since mid-November and he will also be assessed.

Mal Benning (knee) remains out and Mansfield manager Adam Murray is trying to sign an attacking utility player ahead of Saturday's game.

Stevenage have considerable injury issues at the moment.

Steven Schumacher (knee), Lee Cox (hamstring), Jerome Okimo (knee), Dave McAllister (knee), Dean Wells (ankle) are all likely to miss out.

Leading scorer Chris Whelpdale has a groin niggle but could play, although the game may come too soon for midfielder Dean Parrett who has a small tear in his thigh muscle.

Jack Jebb is nearing a return from his thigh problem and could be included on the bench.
