Signed for an undisclosed fee, the former Germany Under-21 player has put pen to paper on an 18-month deal with the Black Cats, making him the club’s first signing of the winter transfer window.
The transfer is good news for the club as boss Sam Allardyce had been thus far successful in his pursuit of QPR defender Stephen Caulker (per the Daily Mail).
Nevertheless, the 61-year-old tactician will surely be delighted with the new signing, with Kirchhoff adding top level European experience and versatility to the roster.
