Lazio's inconsistent form carried into the new year as relegation-threatened Carpi ground out a goalless draw at the Stadio Olimpico.
The Biancocelesti are a disappointing 10th in Serie A and do not look like making progress any time soon, with a toothless first-half performance summing up their approach to the season so far.
Antonio Candreva might have grabbed a winner when whipping a free-kick just past a post in the 72nd minute, while substitute Miroslav Klose nodded the ball wide of the mark in the final minutes.
The point earned in Rome means Carpi are now five points from 17th-placed Genoa and safety.
