Chievo 3 - 3 AS Roma: Chievo hit back to deny Roma

Substitute Simone Pepe had the last laugh in a six-goal Serie A thriller that saw Chievo hold Roma to a 3-3 draw.

Champions League-chasing Roma were two goals up at the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi thanks to Umar Sadiq and Alessandro Florenzi, but Chievo hit back through Alberto Paloschi and Dario Dainelli.

Iago Falque then thought he had grabbed a late winner for Roma, only for Pepe to climb off the bench to score.

Roma got off to a flying start thanks to Sadiq. The Nigerian striker was well-placed to turn the ball home after Gervinho saw his shot saved following a bustling run into the area.

Wojciech Szczesny almost gifted Chievo an equaliser when flapping at Lucas Digne's back pass but Roma survived the scare and doubled up in the 38th minute.

A mistake from Bostjan Cesar allowed Florenzi the run of the Chievo area and he wasted no time beating Albano Bizzarri with an angled drive.

The Flying Donkeys reduced the deficit before the break as Paloschi capitalised on Szczesny's sloppy attempt to clear his lines.

Chievo were level on the hour mark, Dainelli the man running on to Valter Birsa's pinpoint cross, and there were more goals to come.

In the 72nd minute Spanish winger Falque restored Roma's lead with an unstoppable shot that sent Bizzarri sprawling.

It was not to be for the visitors, however. With five minutes remaining, goal-line technology confirmed Pepe's leveller from a free-kick, which Szczesny thought he had kept from crossing the line.
