AC Milan have handed Kevin-Prince Boateng a lifeline after he rejoined the Serie A club on a free transfer this week.
The Ghana international had been without employment since December 8 when Schalke terminated his contract for disciplinary reasons.
Boateng had already been training with the Rossoneri but is now officially on their books again following a previous spell at the San Siro from 2010 to 2013.
Milan have not given any details on the deal, but reports in Italy suggest the 28-year-old winger has signed a contract until the end of the season initially.
Boateng was part of the squad that won the Scudetto in 2011 - the last time the Italian giants lifted the league title before Juventus started dominating the domestic scene.
The club broke the news on Twitter, saying: "Now it's official: welcome back .
