The Foxes have been this season's surprise package, transforming themselves under the guidance of Claudio Ranieri from relegation battlers to title challengers.
Vardy, 28, has been instrumental in their rise, with his 15 goals making him the division's joint-leading scorer alongside Everton striker Romelu Lukaku.
The 28-year-old's exploits in front of goal have been nothing short of exceptional but Leicester will not have him at their disposal for one to two weeks.
Now is considered to be the opportune moment for surgery given this week's FA Cup third round break.
Vardy is certain to miss Sunday's trip to White Hart Lane and a likely absentee when the two teams meet again three days later.
The prolific star could return to face relegation candidates Aston Villa on January 16.
