Oldham Athletic AFC vs Colchester United - Richie Wellens returns for final Oldham game

Posted Thursday, December 31, 2015 by PA

Oldham midfielder Richie Wellens will return to play his final game for the club against visitors Colchester.

Wellens was ineligible for Monday's home defeat against parent club Doncaster and he is due to return to the Keepmoat Stadium after this match.

Defender Cameron Dummigan is expected to return to the starting XI for his final match before heading back to Burnley.

Left-back Richard Eckersley is an injury doubt so Connor Brown may start. Striker Jonathan Forte (knee) remains a long-term absentee.

Colchester will be looking to avoid making it 10 league defeats in a row when they travel to Boundary Park.

New boss Kevin Keen has overseen two defeats since taking over four days before Christmas but has heaped praise on his players for their effort and has no new problems ahead of the trip to Lancashire.

Owen Garvan is challenging for a start after coming off the bench following an ankle injury against Gillingham while striker Marvin Sordell started at Priestfield and should keep his place after recovering from a knee injury.

Elliot Parrish has started in goal for Keen's first two games since Jamie Jones' return to Preston and will be looking to further cement his place.
