Stranraer vs Ayr Utd. - David McGurn set for Stranraer return

Stranraer expect to have goalkeeper David McGurn available again after illness when they host south-west neighbours Ayr United in Ladbrokes League One.

David Barron is a doubt after suffering a back spasm and he could join the already injured Lee Mair (groin), Chris Aitken (calf), Jamie McCluskey (ankle) and Ryan Thompson (hip) in missing out.

Andy Stirling is available to start after a foot issue with manager Brian Reid saying: "We enjoyed a tremendous 5-1 win at Stenhousemuir last weekend but we need to kick on from that. We need to show a consistency in our game and if we do that then we have a god chance of winning against Ayr."

Injury hit title chasers Ayr could without five players at Stair Park as Ross Docherty is out with an ankle problem and Brian Gilmour has a knee issue with Paddy Boyle, Jamie Adams and Craig Moore all struggling as well.

The Honest Men lost 4-2 to Cowdenbeath on Tuesday and manager Ian McCall said: "We are limping into this game which is far from ideal as Stranraer had a great win last weekend.

"It was a disappointing defeat at Central Park as we never played to the conditions. We need to adapt our game to suit and that may well be the case at Stranraer as well."
