Arsenal are reportedly confident on landing the signature of 19-year-old Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell who is currently on loan at Huddersfield Town, as per the Sun via the Daily Star.
The teenager has made just six appearances in the Championship for the Yorkshire club this season but has already impressed in that time, winning 54% of his duels and creating four chances.
Arsene Wenger is now ready to add him to his squad at the Emirates and according to the report will bid an initial £2.5-million which will rise eventually rise to £6m, should he make the move in January.
The Star state that Chilwell has been on Wenger’s radar for some time and the Gunners had a £3.5m bid for the England under-20 international rejected in the summer.
Earlier this week, the Telegraph reported that Liverpool were interested in the youngster and that Jurgen Klopp was prepared to make a £4m bid for his services.
With Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur also said to be interested in the defender, January could prove to be an interesting month for Chilwell, who has played just once for Leicester since graduating from the Foxes academy earlier this year.
Chiwell could be Arsenal’s second signing of the January transfer window, with the transfer of Basel’s Mohamed Elneny expected to be confirmed in the next few days according to the source.
