Eibar 2 - 0 Sporting de Gijon: Eibar ease to victory against Sporting Gijon

Eibar ended 2015 on a positive note with a 2-0 home victory against Sporting Gijon.

Second-half goals from Sergio Keko and Gonzalez Borja Baston saw the hosts halt a five-match winless run in La Liga and moved them to within striking distance of the European places.

It was a sixth straight away loss in all competitions for Sporting and they head into the new year just above the relegation zone after only one win in the last six league games.

There were early chances at both ends as Carrillo Dani Garcia went close for Eibar and Alen Halilovic was just off target at the other end.

The game continued to ebb and flow without either goalkeeper being tested until Ivan Cuellar got down well to deny Borja Baston as half-time approached.

Keko put Eibar ahead after 55 minutes with a low shot and it was quickly 2-0 when seven minutes later Borja Baston finished off some good work by Ander Capa.

Sporting had chances to get back into the game but Dani Ndi sent his shot over the crossbar before Halilovic then did likewise.
