Greig Spence grabbed his 11th and 12th goals of the season as Cowdenbeath came out 4-2 winners over title-chasing Ayr United at Central Park.

In a frantic first half, Ross Caldwell blasted the visitors ahead but Cowdenbeath responded immediately through Dean Brett.

Brett then turned provider as he played in Spence before the striker grabbed his first of the evening to give Cowdenbeath the lead after 11 minutes.

Gordon Smith added a third to give the hosts a 3-1 lead but Ayr's Jordan Preston came off the bench to peg a goal back after 59 minutes.

The Miners had the final say, however, as Spence headed in his second of the game to put the game out of the reach.

The win sees Cowdenbeath climb up to sixth, four points off a Ladbrokes League One play-off place.
