Jose Mourinho will reportedly be taking over at Manchester United next week as Louis van Gaal's time looks to have come to an end at Old Trafford, as per Spanish journalist Pipi Estrada.
United slumped to their fourth consecutive loss in all competitions on Saturday when the lost 2-0 to Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium courtesy of goals from Bojan and Marko Arnautovic.
After the game, Van Gaal looked crestfallen and seemed to have accepted his fate. He said: “The club doesn't have to fire or sack me. Sometimes I do it by myself”
Whether he will still be in charge for Monday's fixture against Chelsea remains to be seen but it would appear obvious that Mourinho is now set to take the reigns at Old Trafford and get United back into the top four.
Mourinho left his role at Chelsea last week following a disastrous first half of the season for the Blues where they lost nine matches in the league.
United's situation isn't quite as dire as that, but Mourinho will have a huge task on his hands if he wants to turn things around at the Theatre of Dreams.
The Red Devils have now conceded six goals in their past three league games and scored just three goals in their last five games, with only 136 chances created overall.
