Ayr Utd. 2 - 1 Brechin City: Ayr get back to winning ways against Brechin

Posted Sunday, December 27, 2015 by PA

Title-chasing Ayr kept on pace with Ladbrokes League One leaders Dunfermline after two goals inside 15 minutes earned them a 2-1 victory over rock-bottom Brechin.

Alan Forrest and Craig Moore were on the scoresheet as Ayr bounced back from their 3-0 defeat at Peterhead last weekend. Robert Thomson scored late to set up a tense finish but the hosts held on.

The Honest Men had lost three games in a row before the afternoon clash at Somerset Park and got off to a flying start after four minutes when Forrest slotted home from inside the penalty area to grab his fifth goal of the season.

Forward Moore claimed his sixth goal of the campaign when he was on hand to score from six yards out, giving Ayr a 2-0 lead on the 13-minute mark.

Brechin pushed forward and got their reward in stoppage time as Thomson claimed his fifth goal of the season but they slipped to their 12th league defeat.
