Coventry 1 - 0 Port Vale: James Maddison wins it for Coventry

Teenager James Maddison gave Coventry a 1-0 win against Port Vale at the Ricoh Arena with a piece of skill that underlined his growing reputation.
The youngster, on his way back from a serious ankle injury, had been on the field for just seven minutes when, with 11 minutes left, he shimmied away from two defenders and delivered an unstoppable shot into the far corner.
It was harsh on the visitors who had carved out enough clear-cut chances to have been ahead by the break.
Ruben Lameiras was pressured into handing over possession to Vale and it very nearly cost Coventry dear when Ajay Leitch-Smith's shot beat keeper Reice Charles-Cook but struck a post and bounced clear,
Sam Foley should also have done better in the 28th minute when the ball fell to him inside the Coventry area but he failed to keep his shot down and the ball flew over the bar.
But Coventry found their form in the second half and it was their turn to rue the missed chances and three times they had appeals for penalties waved away before Maddison found the net.
