Liverpool transfer news: Marko Grujic to fly in for medical next week

Liverpool bound midfielder Marko Grujic is set to fly in to undergo a medical next week, the Liverpool Echo report.

The Serbian is expected to subsequently seal his transfer from Red Star Belgrade, and become Jurgen Klopp's first signing for the Reds.

He will not feature this season however, with it claimed that he will be loaned back to the Serbian side before the end of the campaign.

Foreign outlet B92.net reported quotes from Red Star general manager Zvezdan Terzic earlier this week, confirming that the teenager is to join Liverpool.

Terzic even claimed that Grujic is expected to receive the vacant number eight shirt, previously worn by Steven Gerrard.

Grujic is a Serbian youth international, and was a key part of their under-20 World Cup winning side this summer.

Red Star will use the seven million Euros transfer fee to help repay old debts, renovate the locker room and help keep other players at the club.
