Peterhead 3 - 0 Ayr Utd.: Shane Sutherland's late double helps Peterhead to victory over Ayr
Posted Sunday, December 20, 2015 by PA
Peterhead kept their Ladbrokes League One play-off hopes on track with a 3-0 victory over fellow promotion-chasers Ayr at Balmoor.
Ayr were the better side early on and the bright Craig Moore forced Graeme Smith into three smart saves in the first six minutes of the game.
Alan Trouton and Jamie Adams forced further saves out of Smith as Peterhead struggled to create any real opportunities.
Rory McAllister saw his free-kick for Peterhead saved by Greg Fleming before Kevin Dzierzawski rifled a left-footed shot from the edge of the area into the top corner to put the hosts ahead after 62 minutes.
Shane Sutherland then latched on McAllister's pass to double the lead with 10 minutes to go before he headed home James Stevenson's free-kick to wrap up victory four minutes later.
