Caen vs Paris Saint Germain - Blaise Matuidi demands strong finish from Paris St Germain

Paris St Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi is looking to finish 2015 on a high with victory against Caen.

The champions' defence of their Ligue 1 crown has been incredibly strong so far this season. Laurent Blanc's side are unbeaten in 18 matches - 27 going back to the last campaign - with only Bordeaux, Reims and Angers taking points from them so far.

Saturday's trip to Stade Michel d'Ornano to face fourth-placed Caen is the last before the winter break in France and Matuidi wants to sign off in style with another three points.

He told the club's official website: "Caen are a team full of confidence. Maybe, at the start of the season, they weren't expecting to have such good results. Today, they are sitting pretty in the standings.

"They will be playing to cause a great upset but we're hard to beat at the moment and we want to finish this first half of the season on a high.

"We also have a record of points to go looking for over half a season, and that is one of our objectives too. There are three more points on offer and we will try and get them in Caen.

"The pressure is off them, they have nothing to lose. I hope that means it will be a good game and that we finish with a win."

Marco Verratti is likely to make his 100th Ligue 1 appearance against Caen. The Italy midfielder is returning to fitness following an ankle injury and made his first start since October in the 1-0 Coupe de la Ligue win over St Etienne on Wednesday.

PSG, 17 points clear at the top of the table, will be without Javier Pastore due to a shin injury.

Caen, after starting well, have only won twice in the past two months.

Their record against PSG is not the best, with only one win in the last 10 at home, and defender Chaker Alhadhur knows he and his team-mates will have to produce one of their best performances of the season if they are to get anything from the game.

"Paris are one of the best teams in Europe," he told the club's official website. "We're looking for 200 per cent of our resources to get a result.

"The key will be our effectiveness when we have the ball. They are masters of possession."

Caen will check on the fitness of Jeff Louis and Jordan Leborgne.

Last season PSG won this fixture 2-0 courtesy of goals from Lucas Moura and Marquinhos.
