Plymouth Argyle vs Cambridge United - Injury-hit Plymouth hopeful over midfield duo

Posted Friday, December 11, 2015 by PA

Plymouth boss Derek Adams will run the rule over midfield duo Josh Simpson and Graham Carey ahead of his injury-hit side's Sky Bet League Two clash with Cambridge.

Carey (knee) and Simpson were forced off in Argyle's last match, a 1-1 draw with Dagenham and Redbridge two weeks ago, and they will be assessed ahead of kick-off.

Loanee Hiram Boateng, Peter Hartley, Luke McCormick and Reuben Reid were all unavailable to face the Daggers last time out and many of them are expected to be sidelined once again, while Oscar Threlkeld looks to have overcome a leg injury.

The Pilgrims sit second in League Two, level on 40 points with leaders Oxford.

Liam Hughes could come into the starting XI after impressing new Cambridge boss Shaun Derry with his response to being dropped.

Derry could make a few changes following the FA Cup exit to Doncaster, but Barry Corr is expected to continue up front after scoring in the League Two defeat of Notts County.

Keith Keane remains sidelined, owing to a long-term groin injury, while Elliot Omozusi remains a doubt because of an ankle problem.

Gearoid Morrissey has been allowed to leave the club and return to Ireland.
