Dynamo Kyiv vs Maccabi Tel Aviv: Sergei Rebrov wary of Maccabi Tel Aviv threat

Dynamo Kiev head coach Sergei Rebrov does not think Maccabi Tel Aviv will be walkovers in their final Champions League Group clash on Wednesday, which will be played behind closed doors.

The Ukrainian side must beat Maccabi and hope that Chelsea and Porto do not draw in their encounter at Stamford Bridge to have any chance of progressing to the knock-out stages.

They come up against former Watford manager Slavisa Jokanovic's men, who are the only pointless side in the competition, but will do so without any fans in the stadium after they were punished by UEFA for offences including racist behaviour by fans during the match against Chelsea last month.

And former Tottenham striker Rebrov is not taking anything for granted.

"I don't agree that Maccabi are underdogs," Rebrov said on UEFA's official website.

"They are a very strong team and eliminated Basel (in the play-offs) which is very telling. They created opportunities against us (on matchday two), as well as against Porto and Chelsea, but they have been a bit unlucky in the group.

"That's why my players have to avoid thoughts of our being favourites. We have to play as a team in attack and defence. We understand the importance of the result and we must not miss the opportunity.

"Dynamo had great times and our fans would be happy to return to those highs."

Maccabi's European adventure ends after the game in Kiev, but despite losing their first five games, midfielder Dor Micha believes it has been a learning experience.

He told the club's official website www.maccabi-tlv.co.il: "This is our last game in the Champions League and we want to come home with a good result and some points.

"Our group has some clear-cut favourites and not just Kiev.

"These are teams with a lot of experience and even though the results may not have been the greatest, we are learning a lot and gaining a tremendous amount from being in the Champions League which is very important in its own right."
