Eintracht Frankfurt 0 - 1 Darmstadt: Aytac Sulu header seals derby spoils for Darmstadt against Eintracht Frankfurt

Darmstadt gained the upper hand in the Hesse region a 1-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the first derby between the two clubs in over 33 years.

Darmstadt's captain Aytac Sulu scored the only goal of the game after half an hour, heading Tobias Kempe's cross in for his fourth goal of the season.

The same pair combined with Sulu hitting the crossbar five minutes later as Darmstadt went closer to a second than Frankfurt did to an equaliser.

Jeers met Frankfurt at the interval, but they did not invoke an improved performance in the second half with Darmstadt rarely looking like losing their lead, and they almost doubled it eight minutes from time when Marcel Heller's angled shot brought an excellent save out of Lukas Hradecky.

The win took Darmstadt four points clear of their local rivals as the best side currently in Hesse.
