Cambridge United 1 - 3 Doncaster Rovers: Conor Grant double helps Doncaster defeat Cambridge

Posted Monday, December 07, 2015 by PA

Conor Grant scored twice as Doncaster came from behind to beat Cambridge 3-1 in the FA Cup.

The U's took the lead after 23 minutes through Luke Berry, who nodded home the rebound after Barry Corr's penalty was saved by Thorsten Stuckmann. Berry had won the penalty himself after being felled by Aaron Taylor-Sinclair.

Doncaster were level less than a minute after the break as Grant fired a shot from the edge of the box which went through goalkeeper Sam Beasant.

They were ahead 10 minutes later when Cameron Stewart's excellent cross was prodded in by Mitchell Lund, who celebrated the first goal of his senior career.

Just seconds later Grant added his second of the game with a sublime finish from distance which beat Beasant via the post from Cedric Evina's pass.

Only a fine Beasant save prevented Andy Williams from adding a fourth as Doncaster exerted their class, while the closest Cambridge came to responding saw Liam Hughes hit the bar twice in a matter of seconds following Harrison Dunk's cross.
