David Moyes believes it is good for all British coaches to have somebody like Gary Neville working abroad.

The former Manchester United and Everton manager recently left his position as Real Sociedad boss after spending a year in charge of the Basque club, while Neville was appointed Valencia head coach earlier this week.

Moyes thinks it can only benefit British coaches to go and experience football abroad, especially in high profile leagues such as La Liga, Serie A and the Bundesliga.

"For me, the biggest thing is we've got a British manager working in one of the major leagues in Europe," he told Sky Sports."

"I was really fortunate that when I went to Real Sociedad, I wanted to go out there and it be a chance for other players and managers to follow. I'm not saying that's the reason why Gary followed but I think it's great for this country that we are exporting as well as importing coaches."

"As well as foreign coaches [coming to Britain] we need to be exporting our coaches into Spain, Germany or Italy - the major leagues. I hope Gary goes and does well because I think it's important for British coaches that we get a chance to work abroad as well."

As for how Neville will fare at Valencia and the style he will look to use, Moyes admitted it was hard to know given it is Neville's first foray into management.

"Nobody knows because he's never managed before, we're all waiting to see," he added.

"This is what football management does to you, you want the opportunity to show what you can do."

"Gary will have to work with the players he's got there, he'll have to find a way that suits him and the players. So nobody can really answer that just now."
