Lyonnais 0 - 2 Angers SCO: Angers ensure sad swansong for Lyon at Stade Gerland

Lyon's time at the Stade Gerland came to a disappointing end as they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Angers thanks to a Cheikh N'Doye brace.

Les Gones' hopes of signing off in style ahead of their move to the Stade des Lumieres in January were ruined as the visitors moved back up to second place in Ligue 1 thanks to their skipper's double.

Lyon went close to opening the scoring early on but Ludovic Butelle saved magnificently from Alexandre Lacazette's back-post header before Angers grabbed a lead at the other end.

Thomas Mangani's teasing free-kick from out on the left landed on the head of N'Doye and the visitors' captain did the rest with a powerful finish after 17 minutes.

Angers continued to dominate on the counter and N'Doye could easily have had a second in a similar fashion to the opener before Anthony Lopes did superbly well to deny Gilles Sunu just before the break.

Les Gones responded well after the break and Mathieu Valbuena almost levelled after 55 minutes but his effort came back off the crossbar before Lacazette had a goal ruled out for offside.

Then, with less than 10 minutes to play, N'Doye wrapped up the points for Angers when he placed a header beyond Lopes from Billy Ketkeophomphone's corner.
