Dunfermline 3 - 1 Brechin City: Dunfermline top table after beating Brechin

Dunfermline went top of Scottish League One with a 3-1 victory at home to struggling Brechin.

The Pars dominated the early stages and were almost rewarded when Faissal El Bakhtaoui clipped the crossbar from a Joe Cardle cross.

The same players then combined as Dunfermline took a deserved lead in the 34th minute, with Cardle's through ball supplying El Bakhtaoui down the right and he fired a low shot under Graeme Smith and into the far corner.

Cardle was also involved in the second goal seven minutes later as his shot was parried by Smith but it fell to Lewis Martin and he fired back across goal for Michael Paton to stab home from close range.

Brechin pulled one back in the 69th minute through Isaac Layne's header but David Hopkirk's low shot soon restored the two-goal lead just a minute after coming on as a substitute.
