OUT IN THE COLD: Townsend has been frozen out at Spurs
Baggies boss Tony Pulis is keen on Townsend, 24, and Tottenham want Berahino, 22 in the January transfer window.
Spurs hope Townsend, recently involved in a bust-up with the club’s fitness coach Nathan Gardiner, will be the successful bait to land the Albion goal-poacher.
They are likely to value the winger at £12m but West Brom have plenty of competition for Townsend.
WANTED MAN: Berahino is wanted by a host of Premier League clubs
Newcastle believe they lead the chase and the Daily Star Sunday last week reported West Ham’s interest.
Southampton could also be involved – if they lose Senegal star Sadio Mane, 23, to Man United.
Spurs are seeking a permanent deal for Townsend rather than a loan.
And a move which provides regular Premier League starts – which he does not have at White Hart Lane – would improve his chances of making the England squad for Euro 2016 in France.
Meanwhile, Berahino has also been linked with Man United, Chelsea and Newcastle.
