Walsall 2 - 1 Bradford AFC: Walsall end Bradford's unbeaten run
Posted Sunday, November 29, 2015 by PA
Goals from Tom Bradshaw and Milan Lalkovic gave Walsall a 2-1 win at the Banks's Stadium and handed Bradford their first defeat in 11 games.
Bradford should have scored in the fourth minute when Billy Clarke whipped a perfect cross to the unmarked James Hanson, but the tall striker headed straight into the hands of home keeper Neil Etheridge.
That proved costly when Walsall took the lead in the 11th minute when a shot from Lalkovic deflected off a Bantams player straight to top-scorer Bradshaw, who drove low past Ben Williams - the first goal City had conceded in 678 minutes of football.
Walsall continued to dominate possession but the visitors' defence stood firm and at the other end a shot from Lee Evans was well saved by Etheridge.
In the second half Bradford poured forward and were level in the 64th minute, Billy Clarke heading down to Evans whose volley skipped over the hands of the diving Etheridge.
But the Saddlers clinched the points on 73 minutes, a magnificent pass from Romaine Sawyers releasing Lalkovic who coolly drilled a low right-foot shot past Williams, and although City threw men forward they could not find another goal.
