Gillingham 2 - 0 Rochdale: Gillingham back on form as they brush aside Rochdale

Goals from Bradley Dack and Deji Oshilaja ensured Gillingham bounced back from Saturday's heavy defeat at Coventry with a comfortable 2-0 win against Rochdale.

After a scrappy opening, Ryan Jackson's shoulder-barge sparked Gills into life.

He sprinted up the field for Dack and Dominic Samuel to exchange passes, with the latter's killer ball leaving Dack an easy finish for his eighth League One goal of the season.

Rochdale did not trouble goalkeeper Stuart Nelson for half an hour, and despite a hard-working effort from their strikers, could not prevent the home side from building attacks slowly from the back.

They did eventually challenge Nelson when Ian Henderson played in Andy Cannon but his low shot hit Nelson and spun wide.

Rochdale attempted to switch to a more agile unit in the second half and enjoyed more possession in attack but they could not force a save until the 67th minute when Calvin Andrew drove low from distance.

James Hooper's smart shot was also palmed wide as they attempted a comeback.

Gillingham almost made the game safe with a spectacular volley from Dack, but Joel Castro Pereira was equal to it.

Their second goal was not undeserved, however, and came minutes later in frantic fashion with Pereira held up at a corner, allowing Oshilaja to head in.
