Genoa 2 - 1 US Sassuolo Calcio: Leonardo Pavoletti earns Genoa last-gasp win at Sassuolo
Posted Monday, November 23, 2015 by PA
Leonardo Pavoletti struck the winner at the death as Genoa defeated Sassuolo 2-1 on Sunday to return to winning ways.
Francesco Acerbi looked to have earned visiting Sassuolo a point when he equalised deep in stoppage time to cancel out Tomas Rincon's 51st-minute opener.
However, Pavoletti had the last say when the Genoa forward headed Issa Cissokho's cross past helpless Sassuolo goalkeeper Andrea Consigli to earn the hosts their first victory since October 18.
Both teams were forced to play down to 10 men from the 41st minute after Sassuolo's Domenico Berardi and Genoa's Diego Perotti were shown red cards for violent conduct.
