TRADEMARK LOOK: Cech has been told to continue wearing his helmet

PETR CECH has asked to stop wearing his trademark helmet but was told to keep it on by doctors.

The Arsenal goalkeeper, who spent 11 years at Chelsea, has worn the helmet in matches since he recovered from a fractured skull sustained in 2006.

But now Don Balon report that the veteran has grown tired of wearing the head gear after complaining he cannot always hear perfectly during games.

But medical experts have advised him to continue wearing it due to the potentially life-threatening consequences of another blow to the head.

The infamous incident happened when Chelsea beat Reading 1-0 at the Madejski stadium in October 2006 when after just 20 seconds Stephen Hunt's knee connected with the Czech star's head.

Bizarrely substitute keeper Carlo Cudicini was also stretechered off in a neck brace after he received his own injury, although his proved to be less serious.

Blues captain John Terry ended up finishing the game in goal, and Cech didn't return until the following January.
