Swindon 2 - 1 Scunthorpe United: Swindon beat Scunthorpe to end barren run

Swindon ended a 12-game winless run with a 2-1 victory over Scunthorpe, as Raphael Rossi Branco and Nicky Ajose netted for the League One strugglers.

The hosts, who last claimed three points on September 5, won for the first time under new manager Martin Ling with all the game's goals coming in the second half.

Following a drab opening period, Branco changed the dynamic of the game within 10 minutes of the restart. The Brazilian turned home from close range after Joe Anyon had initially produced a fine save to deny Jon Obika.

With an hour on the clock, Swindon were two goals to the good. A swift counter-attack ended with Ben Gladwin playing in Ajose, who side-footed beyond Anyon at his near post.

Scunthorpe found a lifeline with 20 minutes remaining, as Jordan Clarke was gifted a free header and nodded Gary McSheffrey's corner past Lawrence Vigouroux but, despite McSheffrey rattling the frame of the goal with a stunning free-kick in the 85th minute, Scunthorpe could not find an equaliser.
