The Sun reports Real are ready to return for the goalkeeper who is their primary target.

The Spanish giants failed to sign De Gea on deadline day thanks to a paperwork error on their part after a summer-long transfer saga.

Louis van Gaal then managed to convince the keeper to sign a new four-year contract at United.

SPAIN DUTY: De Gea is in Spain preparing to face England this evening

Despite interest from the Madrid club, De Gea claims he is happy to stay at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future.

He said: "From the first day I came back, after all that happened, he gave me a lot of confidence, told me I would play, to relax and keep doing what I had done before.

"Van Gaal is a hard and strong coach, but that is what we also try to transmit out on the pitch — that aggression and that attitude the coach has.

After the international break United face a tough trip to promoted Watford who sit 11th in the table.
