Swansea City have confirmed that Spanish striker Michu has been released by mutual consent following a disappointing final two seasons at the Liberty Stadium.
Swansea City have confirmed that Spanish striker Michu has been released by mutual consent following a disappointing final two seasons at the Liberty Stadium.
Injuries and poor form have prevented the Spaniard from replicating the form that saw him score 22 goals in all competitions for the Swans during the 2012/13 season and the 29-year-old has now had his contract terminated following an ill-fated loan spell at Napoli last season.
"Swansea City have parted company with Spanish forward Michu by mutual consent," a statement on the club's website read.
"Both parties have reached a financial agreement over the remainder of the 29-year-old’s contract, which ran until the end of this season.
"The agreement will allow Michu to become a free agent and assist him to find a new club straight away in order to kick-start his playing career again in January."
