Bordeaux 3 - 1 Monaco: Bordeaux rally for victory over Monaco to stretch unbeaten home run in Ligue 1

Bordeaux extended their unbeaten Ligue 1 run at the Nouveau Stade to six games with an impressive 3-1 win over Monaco.

Despite falling behind to Helder Costa's 23rd-minute strike, Les Girondins hit back with two goals in a four-minute spell just before the interval as goals from Nicolas Maurice-Belay and Cedric Yambere handed Willy Sagnol's side the half-time advantage.

And the hosts' evening improved further just after the restart when Jaroslav Plasil's third goal since returning from injury secured a welcome three points, inflicting a first defeat since September in all competitions on Monaco.

The visitors went closest to opening the scoring early on and, just before Leonardo Jardim's side took the lead, Cedric Carrasso was forced to push Guido Carrillo's effort onto the right post.

Then, moments later, the deadlock was broken when Costa reacted quickly after Carrasso parried Bernardo Silva's effort to poke home from close range.

Bordeaux reacted well, though, and were rewarded on the counter-attack when Wahbi Khazri's deflected cross fell into the path of Maurice-Belay, who beat Danijel Subasic to level on 37 minutes.

There was still time for the home team to compete a first-half turnaround and they did so four minutes before the interval when Nicolas Pallois steered Kazri's free-kick into Yambere's path and he bundled the ball over the line to hand Bordeaux the advantage.

And, just after the restart, Bordeaux added a third when Enzo Crivelli intercepted in midfield before picking out Plasil, who confidently placed the ball beyond Plasic to hand Les Girondins an unassailable lead.

Monaco pressed hard late on but Stephan El Shaarawy was unable to find the target from a promising opening just inside the area before Almamy Toure turned the ball onto Carrasso's bar in the dying seconds.
