Fiorentina won 2-0 at Sampdoria on Sunday evening to climb to the top of the Serie A standings.

Josip Ilicic converted a penalty in the 10th minute to put the Viola ahead after Ervin Zukanovic's handball.

Then in the 58th minute, Ilicic set up Nikola Kalinic in the box and the Croatian forward struck a right-footed shot from inside the area for Fiorentina's second as the Tuscan outfit ended Sampdoria's unbeaten run at the Luigi Ferraris stadium.

The win, Fiorentina's third straight in Italy, has lifted the Viola level on 27 points with Inter Milan and they head into the international break on top of the standings on goal difference.
