Palermo 1 - 0 Chievo: Alberto Gilardino on target as Palermo edge Chievo to end winless streak

Palermo halted a five-match winless run at home with a 1-0 triumph over Chievo at the Stadio Renzo Barbera on Sunday.

Alberto Gilardino scored the only goal of the game in the 71st minute with a close-range header from Sinisa Adjelokovic's assist, beating Chievo goalkeeper Albano Bizarri.

The hosts held on for a victory that has eased the pressure on coach Giuseppe Iachini, whose side went into the encounter in 16th place after six defeats in their previous eight games.

Chievo failed to win for a seventh straight match in Serie A and will go into the international break 14th in the standings.
