Arsene Wenger’s expecting a busy January
Arsenal go into today’s north London derby against Tottenham brimming with confidence – but Arsene Wenger still wants to add to his squad in January.
The Gunners had been remarkably consistent in the last six weeks before a midweek hammering at the hands of Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
To add to Wenger’s problems, the Gunners’ injury list is growing with every week and he wants to add cover to his threadbare squad.
With that in mind, here’s the latest transfer talk:
Man United join race for Juventus’ Daniele Rugani – report
The Gunners looked to be leading the race for the Italian defender but Louis van Gaal’s side have joined the race.
The Italy U21 international has had very little playing time this term and the Old Lady are looking to get rid.
However, news has reached Old Trafford and Wenger must beat Van Gaal if he wants to sign Rugani this January.
Gunners tracking Walsall’s Rico Henry – report
Injuries are a worry for Wenger and he’s looking for cover.
Henry, 18, plays predominantly at left-back but he can cover in a number of other positions.
And, having been dubbed the next Ashley Cole, Wenger’s sent scouts to watch the promising Walsall full-back with a view to signing the defender.
Didier Deschamps tells Mathieu Debuchy to leave Arsenal – report
Hector Bellerin’s injury has given Debuchy a chance to reinstate himself in the side.
However, the Frenchman was woeful against Bayern Munich and Bellerin will be back on first-team duties upon his return.
And France boss Deschamps has told Debuchy that he needs to leave Arsenal to play the football he needs to get in the squad for Euro 2016.
