Halifax Town vs Wycombe Wanderers - Goalkeeper Griffiths poised for Halifax debut in FA Cup

Russell Griffiths could be in line to make his Halifax debut in the FA Cup first round against Wycombe after completing his one-month loan move from Everton earlier this week.

Manager Darren Kelly has no new injury concerns but he could have a selection headache after admitting he was impressed by a number of fringe players in Tuesday's West Riding County Cup win over Farsley.

Danny Hattersley, Josh MacDonald and Jordan Porter all shone for the Shaymen and Griffiths says it has given him food for thought ahead of Sunday.

"It was great to see the younger lads," he told the Halifax Courier. "It was great to see at first-hand what the ability-levels are like. I was very impressed with a few individuals in there."

Wycombe will assess the fitness of captain Paul Hayes ahead of the tie.

The striker limped off late on in the Chairboys' 2-0 victory over Mansfield last time out and, although he has trained this week, manager Gareth Ainsworth may decide not to risk him.

Hayes is a pivotal figure for Wycombe and Mansfield was only his third game back following six weeks out with an Achilles problem.

Ainsworth is unlikely to make too many changes, though, with Wycombe's league game against Notts County next weekend having been postponed due to international call-ups.
